Volcanic lands stretching from the peaks to the sea. Pores like anatomical structures, used for the secretion of sebaceous materials. Each rock connected to each other rock by the action of their liquid forms. When these rocks were not not not. When this ground was hot hot hot! I've been on fiyah and I think it's because I've been reading my head off lately. Sometimes it just feels hectic inside my head but other times I'm able to laser beam it right out. Before psychoanalysis and psychiatric medications, mental health was largely a mystery. Doctors didn't know how to treat the symptoms of disorders such as schizophrenia and depression and, freaked out by the thrashing of the seemingly incurable, they figured on certain cruelish devices for containment. The straitjacket is one of these. At the height of its use, the straitjacket was considered more humane than classical bonds made of ropes or chains. How quaint.

During The Amazing Meeting 6 in Las Vegas, I hung out with a dashing Mr. Danger Nate, the Guinness record holder for straitjacket escape. Several drinks later, I weaseled out a demonstration.

A Goliath Bird-Eating Spider

Apparently Podshow has changed its name from "Podshow" to "Mevio," because podcasting just sounds free. I'm hoping this doesn't cause any problems but if you see problems please let me know so that I can tell Podshow... I mean... Mevio... It's me video! I went for a glorious walk at Clermont. Ryan is in kickass shape from all the interval cardio. Eventually the paradigm will shift and evolution will be accepted by everyone... it's like a square wheel. As you probably know, after nearly a year of a fingers-to-the-bone style writing frenzy, in February I finally finished Notes From My Underpants and have been excitedly hopping through the post production process since then. Initially, we were talking about a release date in June and I was setting the gears in motion for a balls out marketing blitz and reading tour, a new website, a new me. Then I received word we'd probably have to delay until July and I was a little disappointed, but still okay. After a year of bleeding all over My Underpants (and not in a period way) a month seemed a pittance. More time with the balls out (marketing and otherwise). More time for gathering my loving army (and by that I mean you) for an opening day buy-out to rival that of the master (and by that I mean Scott Sigler). No prob, self. Things are good...

That was when Amazon.com dropped a stinker right in my bowl.

Turns out Amazon and Book Surge are fucking with Lightning Source, the publisher/printer for Podshow Press (and other publisher/printers, worldwide).

Amazon also lists and sells titles for the largest POD printer, Lightning Source, which is owned by Ingram (the large book distributor). According to their website, Lightning Source serves more than 4,300 publisher clients and has more than 400,000 titles in their system.

You'd think Amazon's purchase of BookSurge might have made things a bit uncomfortable between the two companies. However, they continued to work together, getting books on demand to Amazon.com's loyal customers. Things appeared to be cruising along just fine, but perhaps not anymore.

Reports have been trickling in from the POD underground that Amazon/BookSurge representatives have been approaching some Lightning Source customers, first by email introduction and then by phone (nobody at BookSurge seems to want to put anything in writing). When Lightning Source customers speak with the BookSurge representative, the reports say, they are basically told they can either have BookSurge start printing their books or the 'buy' button on their Amazon.com book pages will be 'turned off.'"

A multidimensional intro (in so many ways). Dr. Strange was a cool movie. Is a hope an idea? Ryan tells an interesting story while I rudely eat popcorn. The Phonautograph, the first ever audio recording device, invented by Édouard-Léon Scott de Martinville and patented in 1857. In this episode we include the first EVER recording, made using the phonautograph, in 1860. It's a French lady singing Au Clair de la Lune. This is the earliest known recording of sound to be played back as well as the earliest known recorded sound confirmed to be playable, predating Frank Lambert's 1878 recording of a talking clock by nearly two decades and the Edison Company's 1888 phonographic recording of a Handel concert by nearly three. Ryan popped his head on the chin-up bar on the upskip. He's got a bag of frozen brussel sprouts on his head. I throw one like a hot potato (even though it's a frozen brussel sprout). Some shout-outs. This is me puking all over promotion. I got a job as a bartender because I am a working man who has to pay for stupid shit like health insurance. You know, a few forward thinking and awesome companies aside (cough, Godaddy), most companies don't want to advertise on SGI because I say "fuck" and "suck it" and "dick me" and stuff like that. But I can't figure out why it bothers them so much. Do they think some effing conservative homemaker somewhere is going to hear the show and say, "OH MY GOD, COke is advertising on there and she says pussy and I"m not drinking Coke now!"? That bitch doesn't give a shit about me and my stupid show. Not that I've lost a sponsorship from Coke specifically, but you get my point. You think God is real. I think that's pretty retarted (yes, I spell that wrong on purpose). Apparently SGI has two listeners (Ryan and Nat) who are working on their PhD's in the field of horticulture. They've both written me emails which I share in this episode. The Objective Ministries, an unbelievable hoax that totally fooled me. I am going to be attending The Amazing Meeting, a skeptic's conference in Vegas (which is AMAZING!) Come hang out with me if you're going to be in Nevada then. I'm reading The God Delusion right now.
